Marriage by a Judge: If you wish to be married by a judge, arrangements must be made with the Chief Judges Office by calling 61 ext.1268. Use of Marriage License: Your marriage license must be obtained in the County where the marriage will take place. Return of License: The Officiate to the ceremony must return the license to the County Clerk’s Office within 10 days after the date of the marriage. Non-Residents: Non-Residents cannot obtain a marriage license if said marriage license would be void in their state. If you are under the age of 18, a certified copy of your birth record is necessary.
A valid Driver’s License or State ID is acceptable. Proof of Age: It is necessary to show proof of age when you apply for a marriage license. If a parent is deceased, a death certificate, proof of guardianship or court order waiving consent must be presented. If it is not possible for your parents to sign in this office, signature can be witnessed by the County Clerk in your parent’s County. If you are 16 or 17 years of age, both parents must sign a parental consent form in the County Clerk’s Office and they must have a valid Driver’s License or State ID for identification at the time you apply for your license. Age: In order to be married in Illinois without parental consent, you must be at least 18 years of age.
